SUMMARY:THE THREEPENNY OPERA
DESCRIPTION:Emerson Stage Presents: \n\n\n\nTHE THREEPENNY OPERA\n\n\n\nA play with music based on John Gay’s THE BEGGAR’S OPERABy Bertoldt Brecht and Kurt Weill in collaboration with Elisabeth HauptmanEnglish Translation by Marc BlitzsteinDirected by Scott LaFeberMusic Direction by Jonathan Goldberg \n\n\n\n\nBased on John Gay’s eighteenth century Beggar’s Opera\, The Threepenny Opera\, first staged in 1928 at the Theater am Schiffbauerdamm in Berlin\, is a vicious satire on the bourgeois capitalist society of the Weimar Republic\, but set in a mock-Victorian Soho. It focuses on the feud between Macheath- an amoral criminal – and his father in law\, a racketeer who controls and exploits London’s beggars and is intent on having Macheath hanged. Despite the resistance by Macheath’s friend the Chief of Police\, Macheath is eventually condemned to hang until in a comic reversal the queen pardons him and grants him a title and land. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Info\n\n\n\nDates\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVenue\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDetails\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n2 hours\, 30 minutes including a 15-minute intermission \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAges 13+ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nContent Warning: \n\n\n\nDepictions of violence\, profanity\, sexual situations and implied drug use. \n\n\n\n\nTHE THREEPENNY OPERA is presented under license from European American Music Distributors Company\, on behalf of The Kurt Weill Foundation for Music\, Inc.\, and the Heirs of Bertolt Brecht \n\n\n\n\nHealth & Safety Information

SUMMARY:KVADRAT
DESCRIPTION:Cherry Orchard Festival Presents: \n\n\n\nKVADRAT\n\n\n\nDirected by: Marfa GorvitsStarring: Maxim Vitorgan\, Semyon Steinberg\, Ruslan Barabanov\, Mikhail UmanetsSet Design: Sofia MatveevaMusic: Igor GorskyChoreography: Vadim FertikLighting Design: Anton Makarenko \n\n\n\n\n“KVADRAT” is a deeply personal story about friendship\, time\, and change that takes us into the vibrant atmosphere of the cabaret show “Attraction 90s.” \n\n\n\nCan we preserve human relationships when everything around us is changing? Is reconciliation possible when people who once shared everything begin to see life from different sides?Old friends\, now scattered across different parts of the world\, come together for a virtual reunion. Memories\, laughter\, disagreements\, and the unmistakable nostalgia of the ’90s bring their shared past vividly back to life—and turn an ordinary reunion into a moving reflection on how history becomes part of our most personal stories. \n\n\n\nBlending documentary drama with humor\, cabaret\, and nostalgia\, “KVADRAT” looks at the past not simply with sadness\, but with warmth and recognition. Because even when life takes us in completely different directions\, there are memories\, friendships\, and moments that remain with us. And somewhere in that past\, still alive and glowing\, are the boys from the neighborhood playing a game of square together… \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWatch the Trailer:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nEvent Info\n\n\n\nDates\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVenue\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDetails\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n1 Hour 40 Mins \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAges 8+ \n\n\n\n\nContent Warning: This play is performed in Russian with no English translation. \n\n\n\n\nHealth & Safety Information
